The German University in Cairo was founded through a unique collaboration between Egyptian and German institutions.
The establishment was backed by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry of Science
Research and Arts of Baden-W&uuml;rttemberg, Germany, and several esteemed German universities and organizations
including the State Universities of Ulm, Stuttgart, T&uuml;bingen, and Mannheim. With a foundation rooted in law number 101/1992
and its executive regulations, the university aims to create a center of excellence in teaching
and research that serves both national and international communities.
In October 2003, GUC was inaugurated in a significant event attended by the Egyptian President and the German Chancellor
marking its entry into the educational and research landscape as the first integrated German university outside Germany.
It offers three Bologna cycles: Bachelor's (B.Sc.), Master's (M.Sc.), and Doctoral (Ph.D.) degrees,
across 71 study programs (31 undergraduate and 40 postgraduate).
